Grant Geissman
Geissman's playing has appeared on literally hundreds of commercial jingles for practically every advertiser imaginable, such TV shows as Touched by an Angel, Harts of the West, Our House, Throb, Solid Gold, American Detective, and Blue Thunder, and on such feature films as Married to the Mob, The Pickup Artist, Wild Bill, Stars Fell on Henrietta, and even Day of the Dead. He has also written music for such Saturday morning cartoon shows as Beverly Hills Teens, Ghostbusters/Slimer!, New Archies, Alf Tales, Sylvanians, Camp Candy, and Hammerman. Grant recorded the now-classic guitar solo on Chuck Mangione's two million selling hit "Feels So Good," and as a member of the Mangione band toured Europe, Japan, and virtually all of the U.S. His guitar playing has enhanced a total of five Mangione albums. In his "spare time" he maintains (and occasionally adds to) a large collection of Beatles memorabilia; he admits to being a "serious Beatles freak."Grant also has perhaps the country's largest collection of memorabilia relating to Mad magazine, and is the author of the definitive book on the subject (320 pages worth!), entitled Collectibly Mad (published by Kitchen Sink Press, 1995. Call 1-800-365-7465). Of the book, a review in Hero Illustrated magazine described it as being "amazingly well-researched...meticulous almost to the point of near-insanity," a quote that is deeply cherished by the author.
Grant Geissman is a world class guitarist/composer who, as a much in-demand studio musician, has recorded with such artists as Van Dyke Parks and Brian Wilson ("Orange Crate Art," 1995), Quincy Jones ("Q's Jook Joint,"1995), David Benoit, Ce Ce Peniston, Dan Siegel, Chuck Mangione, Dan Hill, Sheila E., Carl Anderson, Keiko Matsui, Placido Domingo, Luis Miguel, and Paula Abdul. A popular contemporary jazz recording artist in his own right, Grant's previous four releases have all been in the top ten on the national airplay charts. Two of these albums, Flying Colors and Time Will Tell, rose to the number one position on the Gavin, MAC, and Radio and Records charts. Grant's latest release, "In With The Out Crowd" already has smooth jazz radio stations rushing to add it to their playlists. Jazziz Magazine says: "Picture perfect melodies with tastes of Acid Jazz and a constantly moving retro Soul vibe." |
