Steve Reid World renowned percussionist and producer, Steve Reid has played on over 500 recordings, produced several gold records worldwide and was named percussionist of the year in '93 and '95 by Jazziz Magazine. He has toured the world extensively as a member of Supertramp and as a founding member of one of the most successful jazz groups of the decade, The Rippingtons. In 1994, Steve released his first solo CD, BAMBOO FOREST, which sustained ten solid weeks on the charts. His other current projects include: The Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge CD ROM--Steve is the head sound designer. Rhythm Child , a CD-ROM currently in development, will teach kids how to play and make percussion. TheDefinitive Percussion Sampler , a recently released library of ethnic world percussion sounds on CD-ROM. All of these projects are under the umbrella of The Sonic Jungle a full music and multi-media recording production facility that Reid launched in Los Angeles. Steve and his band, Bamboo Forest, will be touring the U.S. in August to promote his second solo CD project, Water Sign, --just released on Telarc records. While not playing music and producing, Steve loves to ski, scuba dive, windsurf and sail. He is also a collector of rare, and unusual percussion instruments from around the world. With over 600 instruments in his collection, Steve is always looking for new concepts to integrate ethnic world sounds into popular music. |
