Theo Bishop

Native Language co-founder Theo Bishop has been active in the Southern California area for the last fifteen years, performing with various rock, R&B, and contemporary jazz groups, and writing and producing albums for such artists as Solomon Burke, Autograf, Gary Puckett, and Peter Noone.

Recently, Bishop has been in the recording studio writing and producing his debut album for the label he co-founded. THIS IS THE PLACE is due out in stores late next year.

Few artists attempt to cover the spectrum of music on the market today, and Bishop's music, an original mixture of contemporary jazz, straight ahead jazz, blues, and new age piano, has influences broadly stemming from Bob James and David Benoit to Gene Harris and Keith Emerson.  Bishop's broad range of style and crafted musicianship essentially cross generational boundaries and inhabit the very definition of the human condition with which the music is based.

In 1997, Bishop formed Native Language with partner Joe Sherbanee in order to provide an outlet for local contemporary jazz artists.  Since then, the label has blossomed into a international company for developing and reputable international jazz artists.  Keep posted for more information on Bishop's upcoming release.
