Trevor Shaun Holder

 

Trevor Shaun Holder, began his musical career at the age of five. His early training included an eight-year scholarship at The Manhattan School of Music, where he studied classical piano. Trevor, a Wesleyan University alumnus, holds a degree with honors, which he received in 1996. It was during his studies there that he began formal training on the drums, under the tutelage of jazz drummer Pheeroan akLaff.

A resident of New York City, Trevor can be found composing, performing and recording on drums with various artists such as Roy Ayers, Jungle Bros., Nu Africa, poets Jessica Care Moore and Liza Peterson, as well as co-authoring and arranging with band member Brian Jackson. Trevor’s musical talents have also been featured through his engagements with jazz artists such as Angela Bofill, Tom Browne and Najee. What's more, Trevor has also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with numerous other artists such as Jay Hoggard, Queen Latifah, De La Soul and Alanis Morissette.

In addition to his performance work, Trevor currently gives private drum lessons to students at the Dalton School as well as at Trevor Day School.
