Burt Brion

For the past 15 years, the sound of Burt's keyboard and vocals have been heard at private venues, weddings and congregations throughout the San Diego Area. With his debut original smooth jazz CD "Say the Word" Burt now turns in a different direction- the smooth jazz concert stage. When listening to Burt's original music, one can easily identify his influences: Dave Grusin, David Benoit, Elton John and Billy Joel. In addition to the traditional instumental-only smooth jazz format, Burt adds adult contemporary sounding vocals to several of his compositions to give his listeners some variety.

Burt's classical roots also shine through as some of his instrumental pieces exude a slight classical flavor. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Burt migrated to San Diego as an adult and became a school teacher. During this time, a series of unfortunate events caused Burt to become ill and eventually blind. Since he was no longer able to teach in the classroom, Burt began making his living playing music at several churches and playing gigs in town. In time, Burt's health and eyesight were restored but now a passion for music was kindled. With the help of prolific San Diego producer Allan Phillips, Burt's debut album will open the door to a continuing music journey.
