A native of Huntington, Indiana (near
Fort Wayne), Denny currently calls Nashville home. Jiosa is an
active figure on the Nashville Scene as session musician, composer,
producer and arranger. He has garnered Grammy
nominations for three of the four albums he engineered for
contemporary gospel artist Yolanda Adams. His production/engineering
and soloing work has appeared on recordings for jazz sax player Kirk
Whalum and NAC vocalist Slim Man. Jiosa has also worked his studio
wizardry on seven albums by “gospel-jazz” artist Ben Tankard and
in sessions with the group Take 6. He is currently writing and
producing a lullaby project for Panda Music, featuring Crystal Gayle.
Denny's recent 1201music
release “Among Friends” is currently being heard on radio
stations all over the world. His three previous CD's “Moving
Pictures”, “Inner Voices” and “Jazzberry Pie” were all NAC
and Smooth Jazz Chart Toppers at #10 , #5, and #20 respectively.
Adding to the stunning accomplishments of his three 1201music
releases, the tune “Lights of the City” from “Inner Voices”
won the SESAC National
Performance Activity Award for the most NAC single airplay of any
song that year. Also, the Gavin
top 100 Smooth
Jazz list has included Jiosa's CD's consistently for the past
three years!
Denny's career includes a long history of
live performance. You may have seen him playing on-stage with Kirk
Whalum, jamming with Steve Winwood or touring in the smash Broadway
musical, “Pumpboys and Dinettes.”
His incredible talent as a composer,
soloist and performer, both in the theatrical and musical arenas, is
evident in his electrifying stage show.
An evening with Denny Jiosa is a
not-to-be-missed event filled with musical virtuosity, soaring
guitar solos, memorable melodies and pure entertainment.
