Andrew Oh stands out as extremely accomplished saxophonist of international standard His musical background and experience span almost three continents. Originally from Singapore, Andrew's interest in music begun in the early 1970's when he learnt to master a wide variety of woodwind instruments and a variety of percussion instruments. Andrew spent most of
the 70's in Hong Kong working as a studio musician, and supported many
international artists Roberta Flack, Sammy Davis Jr., The Bees Gees, The
Drifters, to name a few. In 1979, he was contracted with Fred Bongusto (
Italy's pop music artist ). Andrew remained in Italy for almost five
years also working with jazz musicians such as Tony Scott and Italian
jazz pianist Romano Mussolini. During this period Andrew also taught
music at Milan's highly acclaimed school of arts and drama, Centro
Teatro Attivo. Originally released in Australia with wide acclaim, Andrew released his debut album CD, " Silk ", with Devine Music ( Australia ), which received great success in Australia and Asia and led to a recording contract with an American company, Honest Entertainment in Nashville ( USA ). His second self titled CD charted in the top 20 of the Gavin Smooth Jazz charts in America and received excellent reviews and extensive airplay in the US and Canada. The album which features original smooth jazz compositions, also featured an all star supporting cast including, David Hungate ( TOTO ), on Bass, Chester Thompson ( Phil Coffins, Genesis, Weather Report ) on drums world class percussionist Eric Darken and the keyboard wizard Tom Reynolds, world renowned smooth jazz guitarist Denny Jiosa. The alum was, produced by the team of Denny Jiosa and Michael Moryc of Mosa Productions. Andrew has been involved with several musicals in Australia including The Blues Brothers with Russell Crowe and Simon Westaway, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease the Musical, Fame the Musical, and the musical " Shout " touring nationally in Australia.
