Plan 9
|
Plan 9 unites musicians who have helped create some of the mega-hits of the past three decades in a pop/jazz forum. New, original music and familiar covers are featured in a highly melodic, highly rhythmic and high energy performance. The Players Drew
Bentley (Guitars): Drew’s
complete lack of musical experience made him the obvious choice to be
the leader of
Plan
9.
Classically trained,
Drew
began playing at age 8 but his musical career was interrupted by college
sports and a trip to graduate school for a Ph.D.
A mid-life crisis led to his return to music.
That said, please read on. Lane
Hoppen (Keyboards): Lane
was the keyboardist with chart-topping Orleans in the 1980s. Current projects include performing with brother Larry
(Orleans) in the Larry Hoppen All Stars and the Voices of Classic Rock,
a touring show featuring many of the top pop/rock vocalists of the past
several decades. Larry
Jacoby (Bass Guitar): Larry
grew up in New York and has played in numerous Broadway shows including
Starlight Express. He has
played with Peabo Bryson, Pat Benatar, Catch a Rising Star, Eddie
Fischer, Philip Bailey and Jeffrey Osborne. John
Marsden (Keyboards, Musical Director):
John
originally hails from the northeast where he began an extensive musical
career. An accomplished
producer, songwriter and arranger, John, for three years, wrote, scored
and arranged the music for Barney and has engineered numerous jazz
recordings including works by Arturo Sandoval, Kenny Drew, Jr., Nathan
Page and guitarist Larry Coryell. John
has toured with oldies groups such as the Platters, the Marvelettes and
the Drifters. Charlie
Morgan (Drums): With
six albums and five world tours, Charlie was Elton John’s drummer for
thirteen years. Charlie’s
resume reads like a who’s who of pop music with performances with Paul
McCartney, Tina Turner, Cher and the Moody Blues, among many others.
Charlie has over 150 album credits and has appeared on numerous
international TV shows and movie soundtracks. Joining Plan 9 for
the
Cool
Breeze Album are: Charlie
DeChant (Saxophones, Flute): saxophonist extraordinaire for Hall & Oates for the past three
decades. Just check out the
sax solo on “Maneater”. Enough
Said! Steve
Walters (Trumpet, Flugelhorn): Steve has played with many of the great Motown legends such as the Four
Tops, the Temptations and Aretha Franklin.
He has also played with Wayne Newton.
Danke Schoen.
