REZZA is one of the hardest hitting musically creative drummers on the scene today. He learned how to play when he was eight. VITO explains, “I had a friend who was a drummer and I could not handle piano lessons at the age of five; I wanted to hit things! My mother had taken me into a music store and without sounding corny, I looked at the drums and said: “I want to play those.” REZZA had some heady, early influences. He recalls, "one of the first records I ever listened to was Art Blakely & The Jazz Messengers. That turned me on to jazz, especially after I heard (drummer) Elvin Jones." VITO has worked with Pat Labarbara from The Elvin Jones Group/Buddy Rich, 70's fusion star Brian Auger, Gino Vanelli, as well as endless recordings and films. Vinny Colaiuta (drummer for Sting) has stated that REZZA is “the world’s best kept secret. "Drummer Louis Bellson flat out calls him “an amazing player." Chick Corea said “I was totally knocked out – what planet are you from?” REZZA's proudest accomplishment is forming and leading his own group 5after4. Other members of the quartet include MATT HORNER on keyboards, PAT KILBRIDE on bass, and TONY ZORZI on guitar. On their most recent JAZZ INSPIRATION release NOTORIOUS, the band combines the best elements of jazz and rock music, coupled with Latin influences. "One of the top ten Canadian Jazz albums of 1993." writes Geoff Chapman of the Toronto Star. This is not just another drum record. The album features acclaimed American guitarist SCOTT HENDERSON (Tribal Tech. Joe Zawinul Syndicate) REZZA has taken his place amongst the top studio and performance drummers in the world, his affiliation includes liner note contributors Chick Corea and Gino Vanelli. With REZZA originals (“The Rock”) and adaptation of pop material known to many. (Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground”) this is a very intense project.
