David Sparkman

 

David Sparkman, was born in Ohio to a Pentacostal Preacher and a mother who encouraged him to bless everyone with his God given talent. He began singing at age three and has never stopped. As a child he found his destiny in both God and music. Total immersion in both, perputuated the desire to learn other instruments and to write the music and lyrics that grew within him. Today, David Sparkman is an extremly gifted singer, songwriter and producer as well as an accomplished musician who plays piano, guitar!

This gentleman has developed a unique signature vocal style that’s warm and inviting. He surrenders a velvety rich and smooth tenor voice replete with rounded spinning tones and a tender lilting falsetto. Once you’ve heard him you’ll agree, that his voice is sheer pleasure to the listener. His pure artistry and creativity reveal his amazing talent for expressing an emotion and delivering a thought. His soulful R&B trills and runs, stream effortlessly through his music. His vocals are playful, exciting, sensual and unpredictable; he really captures the mood and feel of various music styles.

David's musical influences are Phil Keagy, Andre Croche, Art Tatum, Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimmy Smith, Marvin Gaye, Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald and Donnie Hathway. He was also very inspired by the English music invasion; The Beatles, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin and the British bands of that era.

David tours the United States as keyboardist with Smooth Jazz guitarist, Peter White. In 2003 he played keyboards/vocals on the Smooth Jazz Christmas Tour with Peter White and saxophonist Mindi Abair. He most recently played in England with Peter White and Smooth Jazz saxophonist Jaared. While there, he debuted two of his original songs from his CD David Sparkman-Livin’ For Love, and received a positive and enthusiastic response.

When on hiatus from touring, David's busy at home in Los Angeles, CA producing and writing for new artists. You can enjoy his soulful vocal style and musicianship on his new CD David Sparkman-Livin’ For Love and on Peter White's latest CD (2004). And, you can still enjoy his music from time to time in Beverly Hills, California at the Four Seasons Hotel and The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

In 2002 he co-wrote a song with pop star Britney Spears. David has played piano/keyboards and or sang with: Al McKay (Earth Wind & Fire), Jarvis Church (Nelly Furtado), Peter White, Michael McDonald, Stevie Wonder, Bernard Purdy, Melba Moore, Javier, Seal, Dolphin Days All Star Band including Jeffrey Osbourne, Michael Paulo, Rick Braun, Pauline Wilson, Peter White and others. He's opened for: Roberta Flack, The O'Jays and The Ohio Players. He has shared his talent at The Four Seasons & Beverly Hills Hotels, Beverly Hills, CA; Windows of the World, Waldorf Astoria, Chez Josephine, Sweetwaters, NYC, NY; The Redhead Piano Bar, Chicago, IL; The Club International, Cleveland, OH; Valentino's, Morristown, NJ; Bethlehem Club, Bethlehem, PA.
