Las Vegas based Steven Lee Group has mastered a unique style of smooth jazz by combining traditional and contemporary elements in their performances and compositions. HarveyMason, world renowned drummer/composer/producer In an effort to promote "From the Ground Up", SLG recently signed a distribution deal with Sonic Thrust Records, a company owned and operated by two time Grammy award winning musician/composer/producer Jay Graydon. The CD is also now playing on radio stations across the country due to the efforts of famous smooth jazzpromoters "All That Jazz." While being groomed for a career in classical music at Wayne State in Detroit, Steven Lee heard Jimi Hendrix perform live and decided to take up the guitar. He soon became an in demand guitarist, performing in some of that city’s hottest jazz clubs and recording sessions at Motown and United Artists studios. Steven Lee is also an accomplished composer/arranger/producer whose style has been influenced by Pat Metheny, Jeff Beck and Larry Carlton. He wrote, recorded and mastered the entire "From the Ground Up" CD and has performed with legendary artists B.B. King, Tower of Power and Blood, Sweat and Tears. Adam Shendal began playing the drums at the age of 11. His talent was so extraordinary that jazz legend Buddy Rich made him his protégé. Versatile in jazz, rock and R & B, Adam is a busy session player who has recorded with many artists including jazz/fusion composer Nelson Kole. Adam has also performed with jazz diva Diane Schuur and has appeared on "Late Night With David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." While earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, Brenda Leonard Cowart was the pianist for the UNLV Jazz Ensemble and performed with some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world including Marlena Shaw and late blues legend Joe Williams. Brenda’s ability to play a wide variety of music led to work with entertainer Susan Anton, as well as many headlining Las Vegas shows. Brenda is also a gifted singer and composer who co-wrote several songs on SLG’s latest CD. Joe Bergeron’s ever growing interest and study of Latin and African rhythms has made him a top call percussionist. As co-leader of the Latin group, Hot Salsa, Joe not only arranged and composed music, his article, "Studio Sounds On A Budget" was published in "Modern Drummer" magazine. Joe has brought his "world beat" style to many nationally known artists and shows like "Cirque de Soleil" and Penn & Teller’s "Sin City Spectacular." Bassist extraordinaire Keith Nelson earned his B.A. in Education and Theory/Composition UNLV in 1982. Since then, he’s worked with the top names in the music business and appeared on "The Tonight Show" and "The 1984 Grammy Awards." A gifted composer and producer, Keith has played with artists Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan and Will Downing and has toured extensively with Donna Summer and Diana Ross. Saxophone phenom Rocco Barbato graduated with honors from the Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, California where he received the "Most Outstanding Musician of the Year" award and performed with nationally known artists Rob MacConnell and The Boss Brass and Ernie Watts. His debut album "Slo Motion" garnered national recognition. Since it’s release, Rocco has performed with jazz greats Grover Washington, Jr. and Lee Ritenour. In addition, Black Entertainment Network (BET) featured Rocco and named him "one of the top ten saxophonists in the United States." Comprised of world class musicians, SLG currently appears at the world famous Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas where they entertain audiences from around the world and are building a strong local following of jazz enthusiasts.
