Am I writing about an
non-existent genre? Do you need a further proof for the
existence? No problem...
This page is expressively dedicated to all those acid jazz fans,
believing Smooth Jazz is a fake, a real turn-off, a
watered-down, pseudo jazz parody, annoying to fans of real
jazz and acid jazz.
With the upmost respect
acid jazz fans are speaking about Eddie Piller, who founded
together with Gill Peterson the label "Acid Jazz
Records" in 1987. "No House Music" was the
interest of this label. On this roaster famous acid jazz groups
started like Galliano, Jamiroquai, The James Taylor Quartet,
D-Influence, The Brand New Heavies, Corduroy and GoldBug.
"There can only
be a few record labels where the name becomes synonymous with
the music. Acid Jazz is one of them."
In 2000 Acid
Jazz released in cooperation with Mudhut.co.uk
the 2 CD -Collection "Smooth Acid Jazz - The Gold
Collection". This sampler is still available for a
reasonable prize. One gets a good survey about the current Acid
Jazz scene.
