If you are familiar with smooth jazz, you will know the name of veteran Paul Brown. This two-time Grammy Award winner, both as a guitarist and producer, has over 60 number 1 hits to his credit, and has collaborated with the likes of George Benson, Patti Austin, Boney James, Norman Brown, and Peter White. On his latest, and at the same time 12th album, he surpasses himself. It contains 10 tracks, of which the uptempo opener 'Secret Sauce' is also the first single. This is guaranteed to be another number 1 hit! Then comes the slower 'Hey Dude', probably a reference to The Beatles' 'Hey Jude'. With 'Wolfpack' we arrive at a mid-tempo track, followed by the nice relaxed 'Elegance'. The country-like title track is next, and miraculously, Paul sings on it himself. Then you hear saxophonist Marion Meadows at work on the beautiful 'Don't Stop', after which the bossa nova of 'Yo Tengo' lures us towards Brazil. On the “bluesy” '7 and 7' Euge Groove blows a bit of sax, followed by the funky 'Da Spot'. 'Round and Round' closes with a cheerful blues. Paul has once again proved that he knows how to deliver hit material. And that with his typical guitar sound. |
