Carl Cox is a saxophonist from Southern New Jersey. He grew up in Deptford where he currently teaches music. Carl received his Bachelor's degree in saxophone and Master's degree in Education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

At that time, he started performing at weddings and private parties. That led to jam sessions, which then led to recordings, TV appearances and tours over the past 20 years. Carl has already performed with Smokey Robinson, Maysa, Incognito, Gerald Veasley etc.

He has already released two albums, which are 'Feeling Fine' from 2017, and 'Thankful' from 2021. Now I have received his third album digitally, on which he teams up with Grammy Award-nominated producer Chris “Big Dog” Davis, as well as guitarist Adam Hawley, pianist & flautist Damon Bennet and arranger Steve Tirpak.

'Breaking Away' opens cheerfully, after which 'Can't Hurry Love' is rather mid-tempo. 'Cape May' sounds a bit more romantic, while 'Evanescent' is mid-tempo again. Then 'Get It' swings like a delight, followed by the cheerful 'Morning Sunrise', with which you get out of bed in no time, and reminds me of Jeff Lorber.

I don't know if 'Red Light' refers to the red light district, but the track sounds nice anyway. Then it is time for romance with 'Reminisce', after which 'Risk' swings out again. “Stay with it” is what Carl is trying to say with “Stickwidit” and “Universe of Love” closes in a funky mood.

A very nice and “saxy” album, which should increase the fame of Carl Cox!
