On this new album Chicago singer Tracye Eileen returns to her jazz roots. She chose an album with classics from the Great American Songbook, but brought with a contemporary touch.

This is her fourth release, but third "full" album. Because it was recorded in 2 sessions: one with a trio and audience, and the other with a sextet. Tracye launched her professional career in 2012 with her debut album ‘Love's Journey’, inspired by her father, the jazz percussionist Ed Smith.

A few years later, 'Why Did I Say Yes?' followed, on which she went more on the R&B and soul tour. And in 2020 she released 'It's Time', a smooth jazz EP. Tracye has been performing at the blues and jazz club Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago for more than 6 years, and has already been the support act for Babyface, The Stylistics, Mary Wilson, Chanté Moore, After 7 and Buddy Guy himself.

Her new album is thus a return to traditional jazz, opening with the fast-paced 'I Love Being Here with You', followed by the swinging title track. ‘They Can't Take That Away from Me’ is the next track, performed in a seductive atmosphere, followed by the bossa nova version of ‘Almost Like Being in Love’.

The standard 'The Very Thought of You' gets a modest arrangement, followed by 'Just in Time'. But 'This Can't Be Love' is once again swinging, and 'The End of a Love Affair' is reminiscent of her great examples Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington.

Although this CD was recorded with two different bands, it still feels like a coherent whole. So you can safely say that Tracye "hit the spot"!
