Croatian saxophonist Igor Gerzina has a career spanning over 30 years. He has left his indelible mark on the Croatian music scene. His work has been broadcast on four continents and has earned him 17 Porin Awards, six Status Awards for Best Instrumentalist, and the Crni Mačak and Rock&Off Awards. Dubbed “The Croatian Sensation” by radio editors worldwide, he has built a reputation not only as a world-class saxophonist but also as a leading music producer for Croatian Radio Television’s Jazz Orchestra and Tamburitza Orchestra. Now he has released a new digital album, featuring 12 instrumental covers of timeless love songs, bringing a fresh touch to classics by Van Morrison, The Police, Elton John, Nat King Cole, Sinead O’Connor, Enrique Iglesias, Ed Sheeran, Percy Sledge, Barbra Streisand, Bee Gees, Phil Collins and Foreigner. He said about it: “I wanted to reimagine songs from different eras—ones that have left a lasting mark on global music history. The challenge was narrowing it down because there are enough great love songs to fill several albums. My goal was to select pieces that translate beautifully into instrumental form and feel enjoyable to perform live. Some of these, like 'Nothing Compares 2 U' and 'When I Fall In Love', have been personal favorites I've always dreamed of recording.
