American composer and keyboardist Mike DI Lorenzo from NY/Jersey has been a solo artist for two decades. Before that, however, he was active as an accompanist for vocalists such as Gerald Alston, Bo Diddley, Whitney Houston and her mother Cissy.

On his latest EP ‘Slo’ Jams’ you can hear a lot of those influences. On the opener ‘Let’s Make Our Love Last (remix)’ you can already hear vocalist Anna Moore, and together they bring a sensually tinged track, with elements of smooth jazz, soul and R&B.

This is even more the case on ‘It Wasn’t You’ and especially on ‘You Will Always Be a Part of Me’, which reminds me of Chanté Moore, with its sensually charged and dreamy atmosphere. ‘Days Like These’ is the next track, followed by the closer ‘Even Though it Rained Today’, with its saxophone intro. Mike accompanies Anna with mid-tempo and slow arrangements, and together they create a pleasant listening experience, away from all worries.

This is a “must” for fans of slow jams. Highly recommended!
