American David Mash began playing guitar at a young age and studied with some of the world’s most renowned guitarists. He attended Berklee College of Music, where he was soon hired as a guitar teacher while still a student. In 1984, David founded Berklee’s Music Synthesis Department, now known as Electronic Production and Design. He worked at Berklee for over 40 years, holding various positions, culminating in his position as senior vice president of innovation, strategy and technology. His combination of technological mastery and inventive guitar playing is on full display on this new album. In 1976, David Mash founded the successful jazz fusion band Ictus and released the album ‘Future Winds’ in 1980. Known for his electronic music work during Ictus tours, he created the Mashine Music brand in 1983, a play on his name and a reflection of his extensive use of synthesizers. He has released seven albums under this name and toured internationally from 1983 to 2020, performing, teaching, and being chosen for the prestigious Applemasters program with Apple, Inc. Between 1997 and 2001, he performed nearly 100 concerts/clinics for Apple, including Macworld Expos. In 2020, David began releasing minimalist, electronic, meditative music under his middle name, Stefan. He has released five albums under that brand and has also produced music for sync for companies such as Adobe Systems and Cablevision. David has worked with some of the biggest producers in electronic music, such as ARP, Moog, Kurzweil, Yamaha, Roland, and Korg. He has also worked with guitar-focused companies such as Godin Guitars and Fishman Transducers. He has even been featured in books such as Patch and Tweak and The Art of Digital Music. On his new album, David takes us back to his musical beginnings in Detroit and creates a beautiful set of captivating and infectious music for your listening pleasure.
