American saxophonist Jeff Ryan is one of the most essential young voices in contemporary jazz today. Ryan has been influenced by smooth/urban icons such as Richard Elliot, Gerald Albright, Dave Koz and Grover Washington Jr., to jazz legends Michael Brecker, Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker and Dexter Gordon.

Some of his other influences include Jeff Lorber, Norman Brown, Rick Braun, Wes Montgomery, Lee Ritenour, Earl Klugh and Jonathan Butler. He has performed as a solo artist from coast to coast at the biggest jazz festivals in the country. He has also performed with artist/producer Greg Manning, where they have performed all over the country and internationally at festivals such as the Mallorca Smooth Jazz Festival.

On his sixth album, released by Woodward Avenue Records in 2024, Ryan showcases his exceptional talent as a saxophonist and composer, delivering a mix of melodic tunes that will transport you to a world of relaxation and musical bliss.

From the opener ‘The Girls from the Bay’ you know you’re in the right place, cheerful, up-tempo and groovy. Soulful contemporary jazz, followed by ‘Where There’s Hope’, a mid-tempo collaboration with producer/musician Paul Brown. On the beautiful ‘Missing Your Love’ guitarist Adam Hawley comes up, after which ‘Stay Til Tomorrow’ creates a romantic and seductive atmosphere.

After that ‘How I Feel With You’ pulls out all the dance registers, while ‘Speakeasy’ takes it easy and relaxed. ‘We Can Work it Out’ is also a very danceable track, an almost unrecognizable cover of The Beatles. ‘Round-A-Bout’ sounds somewhat funky, after which ‘Love Struck’ closes with a romantic ballad.

The album exudes a sense of refinement and elegance, making it the perfect soundtrack for both relaxed evenings at home and stylish gatherings with friends. Highly recommended!
