Twenty-nine years ago, the American Diva Jazz Orchestra performed for the first time. Since then they have appeared on various stages nationally and internationally, such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Newport Jazz Festival, Dizzy's Club, Symphony Halls in St. Louis, Philadelphia and Cleveland, and at the Hollywood Bowl.

International that became hotel Le Meridien in Paris, France; Teatro de Sistina in Rome; Berlin Jazz Festival; Salzburg Music Festival; Bern Jazz Festival; Montreal and Ottawa International Jazz Festivals; Bogota International Jazz Festival; Jamaica Jazz Festival; Zagreb Jazz Festival; and the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland.

Diva was founded by Stanley Kay, once a drummer with Buddy Rich. Now led by drummer Sherrie Maricle, the 15 musicians from New York bring original contemporary and mainstream big band music. Diva has also starred with Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, Diane Schuur, Carmen Bradford, Marlena Shaw, DeeDee Bridgewater, Rosemary Clooney, Ann Hampton Callaway, Jack Jones, Clark Terry, Dr. Billy Taylor, Terry Gibbs, Tommy Newsom, Dave Brubeck.

Their latest album features Broadway classics, but with innovative and exciting arrangements. After all, Broadway musicals have been the source of many jazz standards. 'Heart' opens the disc, and this track is from 'Damn Yankees' from 1955. You probably know 'Pure Imagination' from 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' from 2013.

Then the Gershwin brothers are featured with 'The Man I Love ' from 'American in Paris' from 2014. 'With Every Breath I Take' is the next track, and it comes from 'City of Angels' from 1989, followed by the well-known 'The Sound of Music' from the 1959 musical of the same name Then we go to 1943 for 'Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'' from 'Oklahoma!'.

'Seventy-Six Trombones' follows from 'The Music Man' (1957). And from 'A Man of No Importance' from 2002 comes 'Love Who You Love'. The closing track is 'Get Me to the Church on Time' from the well-known musical 'My Fair Lady' from 1956.

A true feast for fans of big band jazz, but also for those who want to listen to beloved songs from musicals!
