From a young age, sisters Dominique, Annick and Véronique Clarisse sang from the small island of Mauritius. Now 30 years later they still do. They have already appeared on stage or in the studio with Erasure, Basia, Incognito, Howard Jones, Matt Bianco and Chris de Burgh.

In December 1986 they were hired as singers at the hotel Le St. Géran. There they met the duo Erasure, which led to a flight to London to perform on Top of the Pops, and sing along to their album. They even came into contact with Lionel Richie. Further performances and collaborations with Basia, Incognito and others followed, until the Corona pandemic threw a spanner in the works.

But that in turn led to the recording of this album, which contains 13 tracks. They wrote the soft opener 'Quietude' together with saxophonist Paul Booth, followed by the beautiful 'I Wish You Well'. They wrote the bossa title track together with manager & producer Jean-Luc Willequet, on which Basia sings along, followed by the hip-swaying 'Hum & Haw'.

'Impossible Love' is an acoustic song, while 'I Carry You' highlights their vocal harmonies. The uptempo song 'Native Strangers' encourages dancing, after which 'Breathe' comes across rather funky. Bluey of Incognito is a guest on 'I Hear a Melody', followed by 'Cloud 9'.

'Butterflies in June' is an R&B composition after which Jean-Paul Maunick, or Bluey, co-wrote, followed by the cheerful and danceable 'Gravity'. 'Je ne sais quoi' rounds off, and although the title is in French, the text is in English.

If you like bossa nova, neo-soul, funk etc, this album is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
