That smooth jazz has become a worldwide phenomenon, we have known for a long time. Take Nacho Valenciaga, who was born on July 20, 1967 in Madrid as Juan Ignacio Sánchez Hernández. This songwriter, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist with bass guitar as his main instrument and singer started his musical career at the age of 14 as a drummer in a youth band. A little later he switched to being a singer and guitarist, to finally focus on the bass guitar. Since 2012 he has mainly focused on smooth jazz, soul and R&B. Now he recently released the Bible on smooth jazz. This is his 17th album, and one of the most special projects of his career. On it he tells the great passages of the Bible, in an attempt to capture its essence with respect, faith and a spirituality that we need now more than ever. This mix of smooth jazz and soul comes in 10 tracks, ranging from ‘Genesis’ via ‘Noah’s Ark’, the ‘Exodus’ and the 10 commandments, to the ‘Resurrection’. A very nice adaptation of the Biblical story, both from the Old and the New Testament. Recommended! |
