In the past I have already reviewed several albums by Tim Gelo and his chill-out & lounge project Velvet Dreamer. This trumpet player and producer from Berlin fuses elements from chill-out, lounge, world music (such as bossa & Latin) and smooth jazz into a whole. But his trumpet always takes center stage on groovy electronic beats. Tim studied jazz at the Hanns Eisler music school in Berlin, plays in performances at the Staatsoper Berlin and in the band Mariachi International El Dorado. He also founded the duo Jazzá-vu together with Paul Wiebe, as well as the solo project Digeltown. This year, however, Velvet Dreamer has been celebrating a decade, and in honor of that, here is his seventh album on Lemongrassmusic. It has become a real summer album, which evokes feelings of sunshine, holidays, the sea and sandy beaches, to make the thrushes relax and forget about everyday problems. Really wonderful relaxing music! Congratulations Tim for this summer album! |
