Singer Lauren White from LA already has 5 albums to her name, and this new album will be released within a few days.

Born and raised in New York, she was musically influenced by her opera singer aunt and by Broadway musicals. After studying at NYU, she acted in soap operas such as 'The Doctors' and 'How to Survive a Marriage'. But also in other shows such as 'Zorba', 'Guys & Dolls' and 'Company'. She subsequently performed regularly on the New York jazz and cabaret circuit.

After moving to Los Angeles, she acted on TV in the theater, and served as a producer for the HBO show 'Homeland'. On her new album she presents 11 songs that come from different styles. For this she enlisted the help of pianist Quinn Johnson, guitarist Larry Koonse, bassists Kevin Axt and Trey Henry, trumpeter Brian Swartz, saxophonist/flutist Katisse Buckingham, drummers Chris Wabich, Dan Schnelle and Ray Brinker. Barbara Brighton oversaw production.

She opens with a nice cover of Steely Dan's 'I'm Not the Same Without You', followed by the slow, hip-swaying bossa nova of the classic 'I'm Glad There Is You'. 'Unlikely Valentine' is a swinging jazz track, followed by the melancholic 'Our Game'. Then comes Latin's turn with the cheerful cha-cha-cha 'Tin Tin Deo' and 'Lowercase'. '

Vrohoula' is a duet with singer and scatter Paul Jost. The title track passes by, gently swaying, and tells us that we don't really know what to do when we are in love. The ballad 'I Have the Feeling I've Been Here Before' is a cover from the Great American Songbook, followed by Stevie Wonder's 'Make Sure You're Sure' from the film 'Jungle Fever'. The slow ballad 'Turn Out the Stars' closes.

A CD that showcases the various facets of Lauren White. And performs her songs with verve!
