The Italian band Yuts and Culture releases its second album. The band consists of: Vincenzo Baldassarre (vocals and lyrics), Diego Martino (drums), Angelo “Japan” de Grisantis (percussion), Pierpaolo Polo (electric bass), Alberto Zacà (guitar), Daniele Arnone (keyboards), Claudio “Kalad” Marra (keyboards), Carlo Gioia (sax & flute) and Lorenzo Lorenzoni (trombone).

Their new CD contains 12 tracks that range from soul, via funk and jazz to reggae. The album was inspired by the vibrant funk of the seventies, but reinterpreted in a modern way.

The band produced the CD themselves, and on the following tracks got help from Carmen Melcarne (backing vocals) on ‘My Love Will Never Die’, ‘If I Was the Man Of Your Life’, the instrumental ‘Back To Ma Funk’ and ‘Beauty’; by Liana Lamarra (backing vocals) on ‘If I Was the Man Of Your Life’, ‘Back To Ma Funk’ and ‘Beauty’; by Sara Giannone (backing vocals) on ‘I Got You’, ‘My Love Will Never Die’, ‘Back To Ma Funk’, ‘If I Was the Man Of Your Life’ and ‘Are U in My Heart’; by Kykah (backing vocals) on ‘If I Was the Man Of Your Life’; by Emanuele Coluccia (tenor sax on all tracks, solo on ‘I Got You’ and the instrumental ‘400 Days’ and horns on the instrumental ‘Intermission’); by Antonio Macchia (trumpet on all songs, solo on ‘I Got You’ and ‘Come Over’); by Pietro Giola (trumpet) on ‘Come Over’; by Katia Pisanò (with the Cathedral Choir of Brindisi) on ‘Come Over’.

The result is a pleasantly funky CD, with an occasional excursion into reggae.
