Ada Rovatti & The Elephunk Band - For Rent

After being subdued by the mystic of the Pavia, Italy native Ada Rovatti, I was determined to explore her music. As a result, I decided to Google a few web sites, shim thru some music reviews, and eventually I flip thru several magazine ads in to discover more about this remarkable and exceptionally talented young tenor sax player and composer named Ada Rovatti. For Rent,” is the title of Ms Rovatti’s second offering on (APRIA Records, 2003) which features her exceptionally talented ensemble, “The Elephunk Band.” On the first spin, I found myself immersed in the language of this young and inventive voice and how the ensemble artistically and compositionally addressed my deepest desires for intimacies of creative music.

Ironically, Ms Rovatti played piano in high school until she ultimately fell victim to the influences of (Jazz, Blues, and Funk). Soon thereafter, being impacted by the aforementioned genres she decided to pursue the saxophone. In time, Ada Rovatti incorporates these influences onto the palette of, “For Rent.” Artistically, “For Rent” contains a wealth of tasty horns parts that leaves ample space to accommodate her compatriots to play meaningful, soulful & expressive solos. Rovatti also, fuses the intricacies of traditional jazz, which is laced with steep serving of contemporary jazz into the framework. Ada Rovatti & The Elephunk Band definitely come to play, therefore satisfying this connoisseur’s poignant appetite for authentically sound & creative music.
