Life is short and these superior moments
are running away like water on a hot stone. Writing this review is the
attempt to recall the sweetness of these past highlights. Try to ask
the audience for the complete playlist and there will certainly only
a few able to answer you correctly, but everyone going home will keep
in their memory his personal impressions of this memorable evening.
Between the Bob James and the
Rippingtons sets Lori Perry mesmerized the audience with her awesome voice.
Lori is just recording her first solo album. She sang "Follow
On" and "Get'N Over You". Perhaps you will know that
the second song was already released on Brian Culbertson's album
"Somethin' Bout Love". This time she was accompanied by the
Rippingtons and the interaction between her and Russ Freeman's guitar
had an electrifing erotic touch. Her tune "One Chance" is
already downloadable at CDNow, if you want to spend some money.
Lori
also appears on Raymond Jones' album "Intimate". Raymond was
the keyboard player of the group Chic. You can also hear Lori in the
chorus on George Duke's album "Cool". Further artists she
played with are Rachel Ferrell ("Individuality"), Brenda
Russell ("Paris Rain") or Marilyn Scott ("Walking With
Strangers"). She also toured with the Yellowjackets at the 1996 Monterey
Jazz Festival. She performed even with the WDR
Big Band in Germany.
