Legendary
keyboardist Brian Simpson, known for his collaboration with
Teena Marie or Janet Jackson, is a solid mainstay in the
field of smooth jazz.
His long-standing collaboration with Shanachie Entertainment
bears fruit once again with his album Midnight Groove.
An extremely high-quality component of American music
history that was brought to perfection with the help of
numerous musicians who are big names themselves.
Michael White (drums), Alex Al (bass), Ray Fuller (guitar),
Kevin Chokan (guitar), Yarone Levy (lead guitar), Brian
Kilgore (percussion), Steve Alaniz (tenor sax), Ryan Farish
(keyboard & programming), Ramon Yslas (percussion), lsaiah
Collier (tenor sax), Oliver Wendell (keyboards), Jeff
Kashiwa (flute), Keyon Harrold (trumpet), Aure Ortega
(keyboards) and many more.
Immerse yourself in Brian's brilliant musical world with the
fascinating Blue Mystique. His elegant piano touch
is caressed by romantic saxophone sounds and sophisticated
guitar arrangements.
The vastness of the starry night sky served as the blueprint
for Under The Stars, a song that reflects the
infinity of the universe. Lost In The Moment brings
some thoughtfulness to the album, dedicated to all those who
are in danger of losing themselves in today's confusing
times.
Of course, a little tropical flair is also a must on the
album, as Brian accompanied the Smooth Jazz Cruise to
Caribbean destinations as musical director for many years.
Tropical Escape brings back the desire to travel.
The mysterious atmosphere at midnight is captured with
masterful elegance in the title song. Anyone who did not yet
have the celebrated trumpeter Keyon Harrold on their agenda
will be pleasantly surprised. In Search Of My Dream
was written by Antonio Jose Gomez Lozano, who also plays the
leading role in this romantic piece on acoustic guitar.
Brian Culbertson and Jonathan Fritzen also play the piano
with great care. However, as with A Quiet Kiss,
Brian Simpson brings it to perfection. The euphoric
thematization of relationships between two people continues
in Story Of Love. Yarone Levy on acoustic guitar
gives the piece a further romantic note. Which he also
shares on Come To Me.
Bossa nova echoes can be found in the final act Sunset
Mirage. On this track, Yarone Levy expands his guitar
music, which is good for the overall impression.
With Midnight Groove, Brian Simpson delivers an
album that contains a multitude of compositions that could
make it a perennial favorite for years to come.
