The
Streetwize series includes Streetwize (2002),
Streetwize II (2003), Streetwize/Slowjamz (2004),
Streetwize Does Dre (2005), Streetwize Sexy Love
(2007), Streetwize Does Mary J. Blige (2008),
Streetwize - Put U To Bed (2009), Streetwize - Feelin' Sexy(2012),
and Streetwize - Body Party (2013). Streetwize - Does
The Divas! is the continuation in 2015.
Saxophonist Kim Waters supported by the Streetwize all-stars are the
performers on this album, a tribute on famous R&B divas.
American recording artist Beyoncé wrote and performed Blow
for her fifth studio album Beyoncé. Waters transforms the
song in the known fashion with the sax in the lead. Stay is
a song recorded by Barbadian singer Rihanna for her seventh studio
album, Unapologetic (2012) featuring guest vocals by Mikky
Ekko. Waters manages to capture the emotional mood of the song with
his saxophone.
With Dream Lover from Maria Carey (1993) he has chosen an
older song that still showed this singer in fresh youth. Also on
this song the soprano is his first choice. I Blame You is
Ledisi's joyful reflection on that new-found love, the first track
of her album The Truth (2014). Dana Pope, Kim’s wife, muse
and significant soul mate carries with her voice in a large part to
the vocal identity of the songs.
Denise Nicole White, professionally known as Avery Sunshine, had in
2014 the hit
Call My Name, taken from her album The SunRoom.
Differences to the original are on Waters interpretation only
marginal. American R&B singer-songwriter Kelly Price released
in 2014 the album Sing, Pray, Love, Vol. 1: Sing with the
lead single It's My Time. Dana makes a perfect mimicry.
A
song by Mary Blige can not be missed. Her ballad Whole Damn Year
is considered as the strongest on her album The London Sessions,
2014. Also with this cover, the couple Waters offers an unbeatable
team. Price Tag is a song by British
singer-songwriter Jessie J, featuring American rapper B.o.B. It was
the second single from Jessie J's debut studio album, Who You
Are and became #1 in the British charts. Waters takes over the
joyful mood of the original.
The Worst was written and recorded by
American recording artist Jhene Aiko, taken from her debut Sail
Out (2013). The rendition places the
emphasis on the instrumental in this case.
Bang Bang is a very popular song by
Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj. The video
for this song is exceptionally spectacular. The instrumental
implementation is among the best on this album.
Streetwize - Does The Divas!
operates the field of listeners who love it trendy, decorative
and colourful.
