Smooth Jazz icon Peter White makes himself rare when it comes to releasing records. His last album Music for STARLUX Airlines was released in 2019. With Light Of Day (2025), he shows his unchanging presence on the music market.

As can be read in the credits, a large number of mostly well-known musicians have once again contributed to his new album. The songs are all originals and were mostly written by Peter himself, sometimes with the help of other participating musicians. The album was released on Peter's own label Lobster Music.

The album opens with Catalonia, a breathtakingly beautiful ode to the picturesque Catalan region, which attracts visitors to its capital Barcelona with its numerous sights.

Star-Trumpeter Rick Braun introduces us into the scenic Cityscape. With slight echoes of Kool & The Gang's Summer Madness, Peter's acoustic guitar leads us to the captivating main melody.

Older people will remember the distinctive sound of the Danelectro electric sitar on Joe South's hit Games People Play. She can be heard briefly in the introduction to Carefree. On this piece, too, Peter blends the sound of his acoustic guitar with the accordion, giving the piece its soulful lightness.

The sensitive piece Till I See You Again is dedicated to guitarist Nick Colionne, who died all too soon. “The profound loss I felt when I heard that our friend Nick Colionne had passed away inspired me to write this song as a comfort to all people who have been bereaved. We say goodbye, but with the hope that we will meet again, somehow, somewhere.”

The aptly named piece Overdrive picks up speed with a brisk tempo and broad orchestration. If you're looking for a song for Valentine's Day, you'll find it in the romantic I Love You Still. Dreaming of You celebrates the power of imagination giving you the opportunity to meet a person, who you will perhaps never see again.

Odyssey is a song with over eight minutes duration, the longest one Peter ever performed. This gives Peter the occasion to expand the piece and develop his musical ideas further. Keyboard chords meet Nate Philips' bass run and Peter's guitar explorations.

Enchanted conveys Peter the opportunity to conjure up a sensitive melody with Grammy-winning saxophone legend Ernie Watts. Undoubtedly as impressive as Peter's and Ernie's soulful performance is Roberto Vally's resonant creation on the upright bass.

Concluding piece is the title song in which Peter once again shows off his great skills on the acoustic guitar in a brilliant final act.

With his late work Light Of Day, audience favorite Peter White demonstrates the breadth of his outstanding skills as a musician, composer, arranger and producer. Many years of experience and routine bear fruit in this smooth jazz album of epochal greatness.
