Russian bassist Alex Faldin is known by his albums A Peaceful Place (2018), Through Practice (2019), Orange Shine (2021) and Colors Of Nature (2023). His newest project is Summer Days (2024) anticipating the coming summer. As a multi-instrumentalist, Faldin performs on his new album all instruments, a variety of basses, keyboards and programming included. He has written, arranged, mixed, mastered and produced all songs. He is also responsible for design and artwork of the album. The album opens with the picturesque Awakening, which describes the moments that go hand in hand with waking up after a good night's sleep, when the first rays of sunshine tickle your nose and bring you into wakefulness. It's winter now, but what's to stop a free-spirited artist from composing music dedicated to summertime? Summer Days presents Natalia Vasilevskaya a talented singer who accompanies the song vocally. Alex seems to have taken a particular liking to the sun, because with Power Of The Sun he has written an anthem for it that emphasizes its inexpressible importance for all life on earth. Stormy is designed for energy and gives the impression of a dynamic song that rushes powerfully forward. This is where Alex develops all his musical skills and shines with accentuation and speed. With After The Rain, he describes onomatopoeically the state after a prolonged rainfall, when nature breathes a sigh of relief and draws new strength. There is something dreamy about Sky Streamers, reminiscent in parts of Pat Metheny's earlier melodic music. Chillin Swimming is completely dedicated to relaxation and is characterized by flowing movements. Sea Waves surprises with lively Latin American-inspired Bossa Nova music. The interlude Seaside mixes spherical keyboard waves with acoustic guitar. City Strolls is a still existing leisure activity that combines the shopping experience with the visual impressions of window shopping. Alex captures this mood acoustically. With Walk Along The Pier, Alex combines moments of relaxation with a flood of acoustic stimuli. The series of charming melodies closes with Flying Home, which forms a crowning finale.
