don't count the numbers of his albums anymore, guitarist,
writer and producer Christophe Goze has already released. This musician
is highly active. So here it is, his new album My Kind Of Blue
(2024).The color blue is often associated with jazz. With My Kind Of Blue, however, Christophe Goze apostrophizes his own, one could say, highly personal style of music. Lead and rhythm guitars, bass, keyboards, drums & grooving things are performed by Christophe. Drums on Pink Lemonade are played by Curtis Lyon Jr and bass on Timelapse by Roberto Briot. The album opens with the funky Resolution. An explosive tune with acid jazz elements and a hooky rhythm. Butterflies impresses with serene Mediterranean elegance and a conglomerate of country-specific ingredients between flamenco and oriental elements. Christophe expands with Timelapse the borders of his stylistic characteristics. North African structures are more pronounced and dominate the piece. Smoothin' opts more for atmospheric by means of a trip-hop generated piano groove on which guitar chords provide tension peaks. When The World Is Running Down is a hyperactive version of the Police song from the 1980 album Zenyatta Mondatta. Far Away puts the acoustic guitar in the foreground. Christophe sketches an overall picture of his acoustic imagination with short chords. Echoes Of A Dream is a song that explores themes of nostalgia, reflection, and the transient nature of dreams. The aetheric music leaves you longing. The title song is the best I listened to since a long time. You could easily compare this gripping song to Bridge Of Dreams by the group 3rd Force in terms of its charisma. On Pink Lemonade, Christophe combines his guitar sound with other sound alternatives. The album closes with the track Anatol, a piece that gently makes your heart vibrate with a waltzing rhythm. I don't care how Christophe classifies his songs stylistically. Fact is, he will achieve mind-blowing success with My Kind Of Blue.
