Multi-instrumentalist John Stewart created the group Groove Frequencies to fulfill his dream of music. The debut album In The Groove was released in 2017, soon followed by the self-titled album (2018). Now it's time for the fifth album Night Grooves (2024)

The new album was written, arranged and produced by John Stewart. Guest musicians are guitarists Parris Spivey, and Clay Benjamin, drummer Jay Williams, saxophonists Jimmy Reid, Eddie Baccus Jr., pianist Kevin André, Chris Fischer, Greg Manning on acoustic piano and keyboards, and Vince Wiley on Rhodes and organ. John performs bass, keyboards, synth bass, and tenor bass.

The album opens with The Night Life, a bubbling fountainhead with laughter, chatter, and a spark of excitement and energy. Saxophonist Jimmy Reid and pianist Kevin Andre' show the elegance of the nightlife with melt-in-the-mouth tones.

The aptly titled On The Run captivates with an acoustic version of fast and furious, in which guitarist Clay Benjamin in particular stands out. Night Grooves sounds like a mixture of George Benson and Wayman Tisdale mixed with a dash of David Sanborn.

Stewart explains Up On 6th Street: “The song is inspired by the street I grew up near as a young kid. 6th Street was where all the excitement was. You could hear music from all the different establishments playing in the night air.” This lively atmosphere is captured by saxophonist Eddie Baccus Jr.

The juxtaposition of the sunny warmth of summer with the refreshing coolness of the rain can create a beautiful and moody scene. John's tenor bass magically intertwines with Chris Fischer's piano run. That's In The Summer Rain.

With Back On The Block, John looks back on past times and locations that remain fond memories for him. Every artist has the desire to write a piece for eternity. A piece that triggers the Chill Factor. Eddie Baccus internalizes this wish on the saxophone.

Soothing and melodic acoustic sound is the programmatic approach of Acoustic Whispers with Tim Perry as lead guitarist. Kevin André an internationally sought after musician with expertise in studio work, touring and luxury events. Just The Way You Like It is his personal stage.

Overdubbing is a recording technique used in music production where additional layers of sound are added to an existing recording.  On When Harper Smiles saxophonist Jimmy Reid celebrates this audio technique in perfection.

Let It Flow can be understood not only as a life principle of relaxation, but in the world of music with the linking of notes and phrases to form an inseparable melodic band. Final tune is Don't Cha Wanna Go Go with the distinctive R&B cowbell beat of the 80's and an overall bass leaded funky blast.

Groove Frequencies returns with Night Grooves and the burning desire to storm the charts. The group definitely deserves it.
