Detroit based saxophonist and composer Randy Scott is an old hand, when it comes to create hits and stay at the forefront of music business. His extensive solo career includes the albums Randy Scott (1994), Future (1999), Words Unspoken (2002), Breathe (2007), 90 Degrees at Midnight (2011), and Serenity (2015).

His newest project Elevation (2020) is his seventh album and his third on the label Trippin' N Rhythm. As is his custom, he once again invited a large number of musicians to design his album. The comprehensive list is shown below in the credits.

The album starts with Joyride which is a well thought out piece with a swing that evokes associations of Kool and the Gang's Ladies Night. With Ignite Randy presents a brilliant idea. In this fast paced piece he lets some flamenco flow in like a skillful pinch of pepper.

Elevation incorporates musical elements of the great time, when groups like the Brothers Johnson dominate the charts. Sanctity is the state or quality of being holy, sacred, or saintly. The song uses an interesting sound sample reminiscent of Indonesian temple bells and gives a very spiritual impression.

Step is an uplifting feel-good-tune with a finger snapping twist. Lovers of all kind of horns will build up an addiction for the atmospheric Daydreams featuring the excellent work of Cindy Bradley on flugelhorn.

Tempo features Detroit born and raised Anesha Birchett, who together with her sister Antea has already written a plethora of hits for greats like Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez or Beyoncé. She has written this song jointly with Randy and shows her qualities as emotional singer.

On Affection Randy struts his impressive prowess as saxophonist on another single handled produced, arranged and programmed tune. With Intimacy Randy sets new standards in sensitive interpretation.

Final theme is a cover of Untitled (How Does It Feel) which was originally released by American singer D'Angelo on his album Voodoo in 2000. Randy fills his rendition with ardent energy and passion.

Randy's albums are never disappointing. Elevation makes no difference and is full packed with haunting melodies.
